However, leaving parts of the\u00a0<strong>SSH daemon<\/strong> unconfigured can lead to communication mismatch and timeout troubles under the hood &#8211; luckily, two lines of configuration editing will solve this issues for us.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: I&#8217;m assuming that you are\u00a0<strong>not using GSSAPI<\/strong> authentication (by default if you do not know what it is, then it is safe to assume that you are not using it &#8211; more on that on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Generic_Security_Services_Application_Program_Interface\" target=\"_blank\">this Wiki page<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The other function we are going to disable is the\u00a0<strong>Reverse DNS lookup\u00a0<\/strong> function which only serves as an added logging feature.<\/p>\n<p>Under Ubuntu, the default config file for\u00a0<strong>sshd\u00a0<\/strong>is located here:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\/etc\/ssh\/sshd_config<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, editing the GSSAPI line lines like this:<\/p>\n<p><code>GSSAPIAuthentication no<\/code><\/p>\n<p>And adding (if it not exist) this:<\/p>\n<p><code>UseDNS no<\/code><\/p>\n<p>We should be logging in as swiftly as ever!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Generally speaking, even the password prompt should not take a lot of time (more than a few seconds) to pop up during the initial connection state.
